TRASHY?????
Me . . . the Boogie-Woogie Beardie Boy from Tennessee, the Colorado Lucky Dog, the star of local television news, therapy dog extraordinaire. . . the inspiration for "Trashy Beardie"?????
Me, the distinguished, now mature seven-year-old brown Beardie boy?
Well, maybe . . . this is the portrait taken at Beardie Camp on the day I got to take the Beginner's Herding class.

I wasn't really as sad as I look in the picture (though someone said I looked "wonderfully soulful"), I just didn't like the wobbly table. I actually had a wonderful time at camp, but I'll tell you more about that in a minute.
This has been quite a year!
Along with Scooch, I've become a certified therapy dog. We go every Tuesday to visit our new friends at the Village at Skyline. We start our visit in the assisted living center, where the people are still pretty independent but not able to live on their own any longer. We spend an hour with them, usually playing games or showing off our latest dance moves, then snuggling with them and enjoying having our ears rubbed and getting kisses from them. Then we go to another building in the complex and visit four different floors in what they call the skilled nursing center. People there can't do as much as in the first building, so we go visit most of them in their rooms. We know they really look forward to our visits, because they tell us if we're a few minutes late!
I know this won't come as a surprise to you, but now it's official
. . . I really am a LUCKY DOG!
Last November, the Colorado Lottery announced a contest. They were looking for eight special dogs from around the state to be on their new "Lucky Dog" scratch tickets, and I was one of the winners! We got a lot of fun gifts from the Colorado Lottery and Petco, and I had my 30 seconds of fame on two different TV stations when the new tickets were issued in May. Here's a picture of my ticket!

In June, I got to go to Beardie Camp again! We went to the very first one, but missed it two years ago. The picture below is of what we called our "slumber party" group at Purina Farms. Jenn and Phinn (on the left) and Marilynn (on the right with Lakotah! and Cheyenne) moved into the RV with us just before a storm started because they were all staying in tents. It was a little "cozy", but we all got along well and had a great time.

Since we had been to Beardie Camp once before, and knew how hot it could be, we didn't try to take too many classes this time.
I learned a new game called "My Dog Can Do That!" It was so much fun, now we have it at our house so we can use it to entertain the people during our therapy visits.
This time, I didn't hesitate when I got in the pen with those sheep! I knew just what to do! You can see (and hear) me moving the sheep by moving your cursor over this box:
I got to help teach everyone a line dance for dogs and their people on the first night of Beardie Camp, then Scooch and I both helped to teach two "Introduction to Freestyle" classes. We really don't know much about Freestyle (dancing with people) yet, but since we've been learning about it for a while, we knew enough to help others see if it might be something they would want to do with their people.
And the song I inspired called "Trashy Beardie" was a huge hit and made a lot of money at the auction for Beardie charities! Now it's available at the B.O.N.E. Boutique. I guess being trashy isn't too bad if it helps make money to rescue other Beardies and Neardies.
Well, that's this year's update! Don't forget to have a piece of cake on July 17 in honor of my 7th birthday!
Happy birthday to me,
Happy birthday to me . . . well, you know the rest!
Wiggles, wags & sloppy beardie
kisses,
Boogie
